GANDHI BEYOND NON VIOLENCE

Gandhi became a world icon because he taught the lesson of nonviolence & truth not only to the Indians but to the world as a whole. This Gandhi Jayanti let us analyze the contribution of Gandhi to our lives from a new perspective.

Britishers considered themself superior to the Indians & portrayed Indians as slaves not only in India but also on the world stage, Mahatma Gandhi played a significant role in breaking the myth.

Britishers were of the opinion that Indians were dependent on them for their bread & butter, Gandhi proved them wrong, by initiating a salt march walking with hundreds of Indians from Sabarmati Aashram to Dandi that ended the monopoly of Britishers on salt manufacturing making Indians realize their self-worth.

Mahatma Gandhi was a law graduate from London but was very much Indian in his lifestyle, Britishers were of the opinion that western style education, fashionable garments, dining on the table & using western toilets are manners & high-class things, whereas Gandhiji always talked about health benefits of eating sitting on the floor, ie. it improves digestion, body posture & increases blood circulation, Gandhiji always advocated the use of Indian toilets because Using Indian style toilets prevents us from constipation & other stomach related diseases, on the other hand squatting is a good form of everyday exercise. British fashion is all about glamour, glitter & expensive dresses, whereas Gandhi was of the opinion that clothing should be comfortable & budget-friendly, this is the reason why Gandhi used charkha&Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance, and nationalism& to promote the use of swadeshi goods.

Can you tell me why Gandhiji started the swadeshi movement, Yes he was of the opinion that Every battle cannot be fought with swords, the swadeshi movement was an indirect war against the British, and India was the main market for all the British goods, by promoting the use of swadeshi goods among Indians Mahatma Gandhi gave a major setback to their economy. Remember economy is the backbone of every nation, This move also generated employment for small-scale weavers & artisans of India.

Gandhiji started Non-Cooperation &Civil disobedience movement to show the Britishers & the people of India the real meaning of governance ie. to run any administration smoothly balance between the requirements of the people who are being governed & the policies of the government is important.

These movements started by Gandhi whether it be the Swadeshi movement, Civil disobedience, Noncooperation, or Quite India brought people of divided India (565 princely states) who were loyal only to their native states under the flag of united India.

To conclude we can say that Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi was not a leader, he was a philosophy ( still relevant in the present era)He was a man who practiced what he preached ie.SIMPLE&HEALTHY LIVING COMBINED WITH HIGH THINKING. He taught us about the power of will power&strength of unity.

A Song of film jagriti righly described him:

दे दी हमे आज़ादी बिना खड्ग बिना ढाल , साबरमती के संत तूने कर दिया कमाल…
