This land of rajwada’s has a very rich culture & heritage in terms of forts fairs & palaces, on the occasion of Rajasthan Day on 30 March Jaipur,Jodhpur,Bikaner& Jaisalmer joined rajasthan in 1949 on this day let's explore the cultural heritage of the state.

Chittorgarh Fort: it’s a hill fort built by chitraged Maurya, The fort witnessed the three jauhars Jauhar was a Hindu custom of mass self-immolation (by burning themselves in the fire) of women and children. This custom was followed in order to avoid capture, enslavement &rape by the invaders when they are facing certain defeat during the war. , First Jauhar was of Rani Padmavati wife of Ratan Singh during the attack of Alauddin Khilji 1303, Second Jauhar was of Rani Karnavati (1535) when Qutub-ud-din Bahadur Shah, Sultan of Gujarat, attacked the Mewar kingdom with his huge army., Third Jauhar (1567 Reign of Rana Uday Singh)Meera Mandir, Kirti Stambh, Vijay Stambh are situated inside the fort.

Kumbhalgarh : (मेवाड़ की आँख)Built by Rana Kumbha located in Rajsamand it has second largest wall of world after the great wall of china. कुम्भलगढ़ की दीवार दुनिया की दूसरी सबसे लम्बी दीवार हैं,Panna dhaya kept vikram aditya Singh & Uday Singh hid in Kumbhalgarh when there was a threat to their life due to conspiracy of succession ,Maharana Pratap was born here. अबुल फजल ने कहा है - यह इतनी ऊंचाई पर स्थित है कि जब इसे नीचे से ऊपर तक देखा जाता है तो पगड़ी सिर से गिर सकती है

Jaigarh Fort - Situated on चील का टीला ( Hill of Eagle) Jaipur Built by Jai Singh II. Asia’s biggest Cannon is kept here, एशिया की सबसे बड़ी तोप जयबाण यहां रखी हैं

Mehrangarh fort (Jodhpur) Amer fort (Jaipur) Taragarh fort (Ajmer) Ranthambore fort (Sawai Madhopur) are other important forts of Rajasthan

Difference between Palace &Fort

Forts are bigger as compared to palaces, there can be many palaces in a fort. Fort is built for millinery &Security purpose palaces are built for the residence of the royal family & administrative purposes

1) Hawa Mahal Jaipur was built with 953झरोखा for royal ladies to see daily activities on the street keeping themselves in a Pardah

2)Ram Bagh Palace ( Jaipur) was built in 1835 Royal residence of Sawai Maan Singh II from 1933to1957

3)City palace Udaipur royal family residence located on the bank of Pichola Lake, Badi Poll & Tripolia poll are two main gates of the palace.

4)Jag Niwas Udaipur(built by Jagat Singh II) Jag Mandir Udaipur(built by Jagat Singh I ) Badal Mahal ( Jaisalmer) Anoop Mahal ( Bikaner) are the other important palaces of Rajasthan.

5) Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur(347 rooms) built by Maharaja Umed Singh is one of the world’s largest private residences.

Fairs&Festivals

GANGAUR: Gana symbolize Shiv Gaur symbolize goddess Parvati, This is an important festival of Rajasthan celebrated for 16 days(धुलण्डी से चैत्र शुक्ल तृतीय) the celebrates the bond of husband & wife unmarried women also keep fast if they seek nice groom. गौर गौर गोमती ...गणगौर का प्रसिद्ध गीत है।

SHEETLA SAPTMIशीतला सप्तमी: fair is every year in chaksu village चैत्र कृष्ण सप्तमी she is a goddess known for cure of smallpox

TEEJ : celebrated twice a yearसावन शुक्ल तृतीय: छोटी तीज ,भाद्र शुक्ल तृतीत :कजरी तीज
