ENGINEERING MASTER PIECES OF INDIA

INDIA is not only the land of Vedas rich culture & heritage but also architectural miracles, This engineering day(15 September, the birth anniversary of M.VISVESVARAYA) let us have a look at the architectural miracles of this incredible land.





MATRIMANDIR (AUROVILLE TAMIL NADU)





It is called the soul of the city of Auroville. Mirria Alfessa & Roger Anger were the chief architect of a huge sphere-shaped integral yoga center, covered with golden discs that reflect sunlight surrounded by 12 petals, construction started in 1971& took around 37 years to complete.

Inside the inner chamber the largest

optically perfect glass globe of the world is placed in the inner chamber which is a white marble meditation hall.

SIGNATURE BRIDGE DELHI




The signature bridge is seen making the shape of 'Namaste', this is India's first cable-style bridge, connecting Wazirabad to East Delhi, The pylon of this bridge is almost double the height of Qutub Minar 154 metre high. The bridge is inaugurated in 2018.

HANGING PILLAR LEPAKSHI TEMPLE ANDHRA PRADESH

Among the 70 stone pillars, there is one that hangs from the ceiling. The base of this pillar barely touches the ground & It is possible to pass objects such as a thin sheet of paper or a piece of cloth from one side to the other. Many unsuccessful attempts to uncover the secret of its support were made since ages. The temple is built on a rocky hill called Kurmasailam - which means tortoise hill in Telugu. The shape of the hill resembles a tortoise.



GOL GUMBAZ BIJAPUR KARNATAKA

This is the second largest dome of the world the tomb of Mohammad Adil Shah & his relatives, Yaqut of Dabul was the architect of the tomb. built in the 17th century Famous for its whispering gallery where echoes of the sound can be heard 7 to 10 times. Four seven-storeyed caped towers surround the tomb. The circular dome stands free without any pillar support just based on masonry skills.

STATUE OF UNITY KEVADIA GUJRAT



This statue is the tallest statue in the world (182 metres) , the statue is located between the Satpura & Vindhya mountain ranges on Sadhu Bet island Steel Brass & Bronze are used in the construction of the statue. The bronze colour will turn to green in 100 years due to the natural aging process,4 lifts are fitted in the legs of the statue that can take people to the top of the statue in 30 seconds, The statue has a viewing gallery at 153 metres (at the chest of the statue) that can give a panoramic view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, Satpura & vindhyachal mountain ranges. The Statue was inaugurated in 2018.

LOTUS TEMPLE NEW DELHI




The Lotus Temple is a Bahá'í Worship temple, where there are no idols and no religious rituals of any kind. People come here to experience peace and relaxation. It is called the Lotus Temple because of the lotus-like shape of this temple. (27 white marble petals) It was constructed in 1986.







BOGIBEEL BRIDGE BRAHMPUTRA RIVER ASSAM





India's longest rail cum road bridge (4.94 Km) three road lanes & two rail tracks connecting Dhemaji to Dibrugarh district via road.


northern bank to the southern bank of Brahmputra river via rail (broad gauge. rail track ) The bridge is also useful to fulfill defence requirements of the indo-china border, The bridge was inaugurated in 2018.


To conclude we can say that, we have seen seven wonders of the world but

India also has engineering miracles of its own that are a combination of beauty & engineering skills. These masterpieces are enough to make incredible India a wonderland in its own sense.
